Introducing Circular Running Stock

What if Circular Sourcing was no longer only about surplus materials?

This is the next step in our broader vision — circular input materials for all products, everywhere.

We’re excited to introduce our first circular running stock on Circular Sourcing. These materials are different from surplus. They need to meet stricter requirements, because they’re designed to feed into a more circular system going forward. That means they must be made from renewable or recycled materials, have traceable origins, and align with established circular design principles and circular input definitions as defined by the Refashioning guidelines, a comprehensive, open source set of circular design guidelines, specifically for fashion and textiles, backed by research from RMIT University and Julie Boulton, developed and tested over decade by A.BCH and road tested for scale by Country Road Group.

Two Ways to Source

You’ll now see two types of materials on the platform – Surplus & Running Stock. Surplus is our way of making use of what already exists. Alongside that, we’re introducing circular Running Stock: materials that are made now, available now, and able to be reordered when you need them again.

Available Now, and Again Later

Running stock gives you the flexibility to find materials in the moment, but it also means that if you develop something that works — a fabric that suits a style or sells through — you have the option to come back to it and make more.

What You’ll Find

We’re starting with a focused range of core materials that can work across different products and brands. This includes silks, man-made cellulosic fibres, 100% cotton shirtings, and 100% European flax linen. Linen is one of the most circular materials we’ve worked with to date, and it’s now available in a growing range of colours and weights.

There’s more coming so if you’re looking for something specific, we can also help source alternative colours and options as the range continues to build.

How to Find It

You’ll now find all of this under a new category on the site: Running Stock. From there, you can filter and search to find exactly what you need, and we’ll continue building out the range over time.
